The Artist Brothers completed the Libby's Water Tower Art in 2017
The Libby Water Tower was the primary source of water for the old Libby's cannery, a fruit packing factory that still stands in Sunnyvale in the shape of an old fruit cocktail can. The can is 25 feet tall and 15 feet across. It stands about 150 feet in the air. The water tower can hold about 150,000 gallons of water. The Cannery was torn down in 1985 but was replaced into a normal water tower. After public out cry, the can was reverted and repainted back to represent the first Libby's label.
Libby’s cannery resembles a can of fruit cocktail and features a colourful display with the words “Libby’s FANCY QUALITY” and “FANCY FRUITS FOR SALAD.”
Surrounded by a multitude of orchards and a booming local fruit industry, canneries like Libby’s, Del Monte, and Schuckl’s were the largest employers in Sunnyvale. The Libby's Water Tower has no been declared an historic site.
